Baking Bread

Lately I have been obsessed with bread baking.  If you know me this is amusing because I’m somewhat impatient, and I really don’t like to spend too much time in the kitchen.  By dumb luck I happened to stumble across the book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. I love this book.  It makes bread baking so simple.  You basically mix a batch of dough in your kitchen aid and then you can store it in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.  Each batch makes 4 loves of bread… and it really only takes 5 minutes a day.  I went to their website and I noticed that they are using WordPress for the site.  And, in the blogroll I went to the website of Zoe Francois, one of the co-authors of the book, and found the most amazing carrot cake recipe.  My youngest daughter loves Flour Garden’s carrot cake and I’ve been looking for a recipe like it for a few years.  I’ll have to try this one.

Remembering Summer

Mom and girlsThis photo was taken over a glass of wine at the end of our 18 day camping trip last summer. Both girls were squeezed into my chair with me… definitely one of my favorite moments.

Editor’s Letters

I just made the decision to leave the Family Post after 7 years as the Editor, and the part I’m going to miss the most is writing my Editor’s Letter.  So instead of publishing them there, I’m going to write them here.  The only difference will be that nowhere near as many people will read them.  That’s probably good.  I won’t have to censor them anymore.  Here’s to a little more freedom, and no more press deadlines!
